Woman Gets Beaten By Husband On Their Wedding Night Because He Couldn’t Get Her Dress Off
During the savage attack, Amy Dawson thought her husband was going to kill her.
22-year-old Amy Dawson on her wedding day.
Last year, Dawson married 29-year-old Gavin Golightly in County Durham. The couple has a child together and had their reception at Beamish Hall, a country hotel. Upon returning to their room, the woman asked her husband to help her take off her dress.
A fight started after he wasn’t able to do it, and he beat her badly. He punched her, leaving Dawson with a cut eyebrow and bruised chest and face. She managed to escape and called the police.
Dawson said his behaviour had changed since they had their child.
When I first met Gavin, he was lovely, I couldn’t fault him. He was caring and loving, and when we found we were having baby, we were delighted. I fell pregnant after eight months, but almost straight away, Gavin became controlling and manipulative. It was like walking on eggshells. When he lashed out at me on my wedding night, I thought I was going to die. I was terrifed. He looked like he was going to kill me.
Golightly was given 12 months of community order and a restraining order which prevents him to contact or get near Dawson.
Dawson said “The community order was far too soft. The restraining order is the only thing keeping me strong. He means nothing to me now.”
